Alone vs. Loneliness

Just so there is no confusion, being alone is a physical state of being whereas,  loneliness is an emotional state. Are you experiencing a sense of loneliness while in the company of others?  This is a very difficult and generally sad place to be in, emotionally.  Are you struggling with depression?  If so, receiving proper treatment may be just what you need.  This can typically be accomplished through talk therapy and occasionally one may want to include medication.  The choice is always yours!

Often when clients report that they dread spending time alone, get bored easily or must always keep busy, this may be an indicator that distraction has become the coping mechanism.  The question then becomes what is it that one needs the distraction from.
